FAQ’s

How do I sign up for a session?

There is a link at the bottom of the page for you to fill out a contact form, requesting an appointment, a phone call, or more information.

You can also e-mail: kerri@enlivenmvmt.com or call (843) 480-0809

Once your appointment time is scheduled, there will be additional forms that will be e-mailed to you for you to fill out prior to your first visit.

What should I wear?

For your appointment, please wear something comfortable that you can easily move in, work-out clothes and sneakers are recommended. Be sure that the skin on and around the area we are evaluating can be easily seen if needed (i.e. shorts if you are coming for your leg/knee/ankle).

How long is each session?

The physical therapy initial visit as well as initial wellness assessment is about 60-75 minutes to include a full evaluation, provide treatment, and establish a comprehensive plan of care. Follow-up sessions are typically 60 minutes.

Dry Needling Only sessions are 30 minutes. These visits are for clients who have already been evaluated, no other treatment is provided.

Private yoga session are 60 minutes long.

How long after an injury should I wait to seek out treatment/assessment?

Typically, the longer you wait to get treatment and understand what exactly is going on, the longer it will take to heal and get you back to 100%. The longer tissues are in a distorted or injured state, the weaker they become, the less motion they have, and more painful they become.

While people commonly follow the “R.I.C.E” protocol (Rest.Ice.Compression.Elevation), active rest is important to promote healing and restore range of motion/function. Mindful motion is medicine, the right movements grounded in knowledge can accelerate the healing process and get you back to pre-injury state sooner.

Do I need a referral or prescription from my Doctor?

A physician’s referral is not needed to schedule a movement assessment, wellness visit, or for an evaluation for physical therapy. If physical therapy care is indicated, we are able to provide care for 30-days without a doctor’s referral. Many conditions can be treated and improved within this window. If further physical therapy care is required past 30-days you will need a doctor’s referral. The referral can come from a doctor.

If you have recently undergone surgery, a physician’s prescription is necessary for treatment to allow all healthcare providers to be on the same page, ensuring safety and readiness of higher-level testing and assessments.

Do you take my insurance?

Enliven Movement is out-of-network with insurance companies. We are grateful to be able to provide care with autonomy, transparency, and without the restrictions created by insurance companies. This was a very purposeful decision which allows us the time and freedom to provide the type of care and experience we believe in - getting you better and keeping you at your best. While the practice does not submit claims to insurance, we can provide you with a “Superbill” that you can (depending on the benefits of your plan) use to file a claim yourself directly to your insurance company to receive reimbursement. We also accept payment from Health Savings Accounts (HSA).

If you would like to utilize insurance and do not have out-of-network benefits, or if you’ve recently had a surgery that requires aggressive physical therapy 2-3x per week, we are happy to connect you with our colleagues in town who are either in-network with your coverage or specialize more deeply in your condition so you can get on the road to recovery. And if that’s the case, we’ll be cheering you on throughout your recovery. We are always on your team!

What if I’m not an active person but am having pain or discomfort at work or home?

We’re here for you! Balancing out sedentary activities, especially activities such as prolonged sitting, and supporting your body in doing chores at home by teaching you how to move well is important in preventing injury and staying healthy. We will teach you ways to “check-in” with your body and how it moves to make sure there is nothing putting you at higher risk for injury. Much of this involves teaching techniques for improved posture, body mechanics, and ergonomics at work.

Can I contact you between sessions?

Of course! We encourage communication and you can e-mail us at any time with questions!
